For Renters:

1. Find an item
Sign-up for a free account and start searching for what you need.
2. Submit a request
Chat with the owner if you have any questions, then submit a rental request.
3. Pay securely
Once your request is verified and confirmed, pay through our secure network.
4. Enjoy your rental
Arrange collection or delivery and starting using your item.
5. Return to lender
When you're done, return it to the owner as per your agreement.
● Reach out to lenders
Most owners keep their listings brief, so if you have any questions, special requirements, or simply want to know a bit more, send them a direct message through the “Contact” option on the listing. This way you can find out if the item is going to be suitable for what you need, and easily work out any arrangements directly with the owner.
● Always check availability
Goods can be in high demand, so if it's a last minute request for the weekend, holidays, or other peak times, message the owner prior to submitting a booking request to avoid disappointment.

For Owners:

1. List your item.
Sign-up for an account and list your items to rent here in minutes.
2. Review rental requests.
Interested renters will communicate directly with you to discuss specifics, and you have the freedom to accept or deny requests at your discretion.
3. Share your item.
Once a booking is confirmed, arrange collection and return with the happy renter in your community.
4. Make extra cash
All payments are made through our secure network, so you can rest easy while earning more.
● Make your listing stand out
Be as descriptive and thorough as possible! The more detailed your listing is, the more interest and rental requests it will generate.
● Get snap happy
Use the highest quality photos you have so renters can see what you are offering. You can also add a stock image as the cover if you'd like. The better the images, the more rental requests you'll receive.
● Be specific
Please mention and identify any logistical specifics, and/or booking agreement(s) that you might require of users to accept and comply with in your listing.

Fees, Payments, and Disputes
Fees
To cover our costs for payment processing + marketplace operations, we charge an 8% transaction fee, which includes the Stripe/PayPal fee. The Stripe/PayPal fee is based on your account's fees and is usually around 2.9% + $0.30. It's important to note that these fees are subject to change, so sellers and buyers should check PayPal's and Stripe's website for the latest fee information.
In the event of a dispute, you are protected by PayPal's and Stripe's Payment Protection. Therefore, we utilize Stripe as the preferred payment method for all transactions. Please note that our platform does not provide insurance or coverage.
We take the safety of our community seriously, so our team will review all listings and remove any that are suspicious and/or violate our community rules (see below).
1. Respect all other members and do not send spam, offensive, or threatening messages, leave comments, or engage in any other form of offensive communication.
2. Only create listings for goods you own, are authorized to rent, and are in safe condition to use. (It is not permitted to list any Dangerous Goods, such as Chemicals, Alcohols, Tobacco or Weapons)
3. Try to answer all messages in a timely fashion.
4. The HalfPrice is a third-party marketplace and by using it, you must also comply with Canada laws, regulations, safety measures, and/or booking agreement(s) by listing owners that are applicable.
5. At HalfPrice.Rent, we encourage open and transparent communication between owners and renters. Our platform allows for the sharing of contact information and URLs to facilitate discussions and establish trust. Renters and owners can freely communicate with each other and exchange necessary details before finalizing a rental transaction.
6. While we provide a platform for secure and convenient rentals, it is important to exercise caution and adhere to our general guidelines. We recommend that renters and owners engage in thorough discussions, ask relevant questions, and clarify any concerns before proceeding with a rental. It is advisable to review the rental terms, conditions, and any additional agreements provided by the owner. By following these guidelines, you can ensure a smooth and successful rental experience.
7. You will not post unauthorized commercial communications (such as spam) on HalfPrice Canada.
8. You will not bully, intimidate, or harass any user.
9. You will not post content that is hate speech, threatening, or pornographic; incites violence; or contains nudity or graphic or gratuitous violence.
10. You will not post any dating or other mature content (including advertisements).
11. You will not use HalfPrice Canada to do anything unlawful, misleading, malicious, or discriminatory.
12. You will not solicit login information or access an account belonging to someone else.
13. You will not post the following items on HalfPrice Canada:
14. Weapons such as firearms/guns and components; BB/pellet, stun, and spear guns; etc.
15. Ammunition, clips, cartridges, reloading materials, gunpowder, fireworks, explosives.
16. Recalled items; hazardous materials; body parts/fluids; unsanitized bedding/clothing.
17. Prescription drugs, medical devices; controlled substances and related items.
18. Alcohol or tobacco; unpackaged or adulterated food or cosmetics.
19. Child pornography; bestiality; offers or solicitation of illegal prostitution.
20. Endangered, imperiled and/or protected species and any parts thereof, e.g. ivory.
21. False, misleading, deceptive, or fraudulent content; bait and switch; keyword spam.
22. Offensive, obscene, defamatory, threatening, or malicious postings or email.
23. Anyone’s personal, identifying, confidential or proprietary information.
24. Food stamps, WIC vouchers, SNAP or WIC goods, governmental assistance.
25. Stolen property, property with serial number removed/altered, burglary tools, etc.
26. ID cards, licenses, police insignia, government documents, birth certificates, etc.
27. US/Canada military items not demilitarized in accord with Defense Department policy.
28. Counterfeit, replica, or pirated items; tickets or gift cards that restrict transfer.
29. Lottery or raffle tickets, sweepstakes entries, slot machines, gambling items.
30. Spam; miscategorized, overposted, cross-posted, or nonlocal content.
31. Postings or email the primary purpose of which is to drive traffic to a website.
32. Offering, promoting, or linking to unsolicited products or services.
33. Engaging in unlawful multi-level marketing, such as a pyramid scheme, on HalfPrice Canada.
We kindly ask that you do not use HalfPrice Canada for any of the aforementioned purposes and that you report any user violating these guidelines. This will help us keep HalfPrice Canada a safe and valuable platform for everyone.

Rental Agreement and Security Deposit:

The security deposit will be refunded at the end of the rental period, provided that the rented item is returned in the agreed-upon condition.
Car Rental and Heavy Equipment Rental:
For car rentals and heavy equipment rentals, owners and renters are responsible for obtaining their own insurance coverage. It is essential to have adequate insurance protection for these high-value items. Owners and renters assume full responsibility for any loss, damage, theft, or repairs related to these rentals.
Exclusions to Cover:
Certain circumstances and events may be excluded from the coverage provided by HalfPrice.Rent. These exclusions include, but are not limited to, mechanical or electrical faults, poor maintenance, pre-existing damage, alterations to the product beyond manufacturer specifications, fair wear and tear, damage not proven to occur during the rental period, and minor superficial or cosmetic damage that does not impact the functionality of the item.

Eligibility:
To be eligible for the HalfPrice.Rent guarantee, the rental transaction must be processed through our online payment system. Renters must also sign the HalfPrice Rental Agreement and provide valid identification. Failure to meet these requirements may result in the voiding of the guarantee.
Payment:
Renters are responsible for timely and accurate payment for their rentals through our secure online payment system. Payments should be made in accordance with the agreed-upon rental terms and schedule.
Renters' Obligations:
Renters are obligated to treat the rented items with care, follow any usage instructions provided by the owner, and return the items in the same condition as received. Any damage, loss, or issues must be reported promptly to the owner and HalfPrice.Rent.
Fraud:
Any fraudulent activity or misrepresentation will not be tolerated on our platform. We take fraud seriously and will investigate any reported cases. Renters and owners found engaging in fraudulent behavior will be subject to account suspension and legal action if necessary.
